Formerly known as the Louisville Metro Homeless Services Division, we have rebranded to better reflect our vision of building safe, healthy futures for everyone.

The Louisville Homeless Engagement & Assessment Response Team is dedicated to proactive outreach and public safety. We connect individuals experiencing homelessness with essential resources, while addressing health and environmental risks in encampments. Our team stands by a simple principle: everyone deserves dignity, safety, and the chance to thrive in our community.

The Homeless Engagement & Assessment Response Team provides personalized support—from shelter referrals to ID assistance—before any relocation of an encampment. The team strives to connect individuals to long-term solutions like stable housing, addiction recovery, and medical care.

Fact:

While well-intentioned, direct donations can sometimes lead to repeated visits or unaddressed long-term issues. It's more effective to connect individuals to professional resources—through HEART or local shelters—ensuring they receive sustainable support like housing referrals, healthcare, and job training.

Fact:

911 is for life-threatening emergencies only, such as a fire or medical crisis. For non-emergencies—like noticing a new encampment or someone who may need housing resources—call 311 or use the city's online reporting system. This ensures the right response at the right time.
